Mr. Klein's primary responsibility at the Hatfield Library is to assist students and faculty of the aforementioned academic units in their information needs. The range of services provided include general reference assistance, detailed subject specific assistance, locating statistical data, guidance in selecting appropriate resources, evaluating resources, and creating course related instruction on using information resources. His secondary responsibilities are providing general reference and instruction services to the entire Willamette community, and helping the Hatfield Library maintain quality control over its vendor supplied databases.
Gary is able to provide these services by drawing on his 20 years experience as an academic librarian; 11 years in corporate R&D (starting as an intern, and later directing a ten person department); 35 years as a stock market investor; attending over 100 shareholder meetings of publicly traded corporations, and years of service to non-profit organizations (including a credit union, a food co-op, a community outreach group, a church, and professional service organizations).
In between reading 10-K reports filed with the SEC, responding to consumer surveys, and perpetually researching the banking industry, Gary resides in Keizer with his partner of 10 years, and their cat.
