Linfield College Visit
On January 27, 2014, Willamette Academy students visited Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. The college visitation consisted of a full campus tour, preview of traditional residential halls, group presentation with an admissions counselor and an exclusive insight to Linfield’s dining services.
The visitation began with a campus tour. Throughout the tour, Academy students explored the various academic majors and minors offered as well as study aboard and volunteer opportunities. Moreover, students learned the importance and emphasis of a small, private college solemnly for undergraduates; a distinction from other private liberal arts institutions.
Aside exposure to superb academic programs available, Academy students visited other facilities and resources at Linfield such as the athletic facility, university center, library, and residential halls. Following the tour, an admissions counselor met with students for a more in-depth presentation. Financial aid, student demographic and university statics were amongst topics presented. Questions including “who assigns roommates” to “what is life in McMinnville and surrounding areas like” were answered, respectfully.
The day could not be complete without experiencing the dining services Linfield has to offer: buffet-style. Academy students enjoyed tasty options from gluten-free burger buns with onion rings to salads top with various essentials. Before departing, the group made their way to the campus entrance for a group photo; capturing student’s smiles showcasing, yet again, the rich impact stepping foot on a college campus has on student’s pursuit to higher education.
