How to Apply

Project Promise seeks to educate, inspire, and empower students who have the drive and potential to advance to higher education. Applications for Project Promise are open to all students in grades 8 through 12. Admission is based on a student and family application, as well as recommendations and information provided by the candidate's school.  The students we admit must demonstrate academic potential and have an ambition to attend a four-year institution of higher education. A majority of admitted students will be the first in their family to attend college. To apply, students and families must complete the following forms:

*If applicant was nominated for Willamette Academy by her/his middle school within the past two years (meaning that the student is currently in the 8th or 9th grade), you do NOT need to resubmit the starred items.

Completed applications may be submitted either in person or via mail. To drop them off in person, please come to the Academy’s offices in the lower level of the Graduate School of Education at 240 Cottage St. SE, Salem, OR. Applications sent via mail may be addressed to:

Applications are accepted at all times throughout the year.  At minimum, student applications will be reviewed three times each year:

  • the first Friday after Spring Break (April 3, 2015)
  • the first Friday after Fall break (December 5, 2014)

Applicants will be notified of their admissions status within six weeks of submitting their application. Once admitted into Project Promise, students will attend an orientation meeting, and will then be invited to attend the next scheduled workshop.
