Career Close-up Events

Willamette's Career Close-up Events are monthly, personalized career focused events designed to provide students with small group or one-on-one interactions with employers and corporate partners. Recruiters tell us that the traditional career fair format isn't meeting their needs and they prefer smaller group interactions with an opportunity to get to know students on an informal basis. Students also prefer the casual atmosphere of our personalized career events with opportunities to get to know employers over a series of events. Over time, many of these initial relationships result in internships and job offers, though having a current job opening is not a requirement for participation. Most career close-up events are Fridays when students do not have class, however a few are on other dates.

Purpose of Events: To recruit MBA candidates, to gain exposure to your company, to develop a strong candidate pool, and to make professional connections with our future leaders. For the Development Workshops and Mock Interviews it is an opportunity for employers to provide professional advice and feedback and to view the quality of the candidates.

Cost: No charge or fees associated with Willamette MBA career events

What to Bring: Company brochures, handouts, recruiting materials, etc. (NOTE: Do not bring heavy booth materials for Personalized Career Fairs since you will be moving around to different tables throughout the day)

Time: Events typically run between 3-4 hours, but we are flexible if your schedule only allows you to join for a limited duration

Location: Willamette University's Salem (900 State St) or Portland Campus (1120 NW Couch St - Pearl District). If an event is not located on our campus, it will be clearly specified.
