Helping Students With Their Transition
Large employers who hire 'classes' of graduates, hire in the fall whereas smaller employers hire just-in-time in the spring. To have the largest number of opportunities, students should be prepared to apply starting in September. While some internships are also posted early in the fall, the vast majority are posted in January and February. Employers use the internships as a recruiting tool and like to hire as many as 50% of their interns for full-time jobs. As a faculty or staff member, you can help students by encouraging them to start early, build a professional network and meet with career management staff.
Sincerely,
Beth Ursin
