Certificate Program in Management Consulting

The Certificate Program in Management Consulting provides an in-depth investigation and study of the practice of management consulting. Program participants will earn a Willamette University Certificate in Management Consulting and the knowledge and skills to become a high-impact external or internal consultant. The program also serves as a foundation for earning the Certified Management Consultant® (CMC®) designation awarded by the Institute of Management Consultants USA (IMC USA), which is an ISO/IEC 17024 Certifying Body. The CMC® certification represents the highest standard of consulting services and adherence to the ethical canons of the profession.

Outcomes of the Program

The Certificate Program in Management Consulting covers the best-in-class theories and practices for professionals who want to prepare themselves for a career as an internal or external management consultant. The program content is benchmarked against the Institute of Management Consultants USA’s Consulting Competency Framework. IMC USA is the certification body and professional association for management consultants in the USA and a member of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICM). Attend this program and you will:

• Understand what it means, and what it takes, to consult to management
• Learn and practice the process of identifying and communicating your unique value to clients
• Develop the skills needed to effectively collect, analyze and present client data
• Learn how to effectively develop and manage the project scope
• Manage the client relationships and sustain business growth

Participants will receive a certificate for completion of the Management Consulting Program which is offered win partnership with the IMC and Willamette University. In order to become a certified management consultant you must complete the application, sit an exam with IMC and then debrief and present to a panel of IMC members. This course is both a skill building course as well as a prep course to sit the exam. Materials were developed by the IMC so that participants are well placed to be prepared for the exam and instructors (all certified IMC instructors) will be able to assist with the application and any addtional support for the IMC certification.
