Full-Time MBA Formats

International Applicants

We welcome and encourage qualified applicants from around the world and are proud of the global spirit of our MBA program.

All applicants must show they have obtained or will obtain bachelor degree from a college/university accredited by the appropriate U.S. regional institutional accrediting agency, or an equivalent degree from another country, by fall semester 2013. Three and four year bachelor degrees from international colleges/universities are considered equivalent if the degree is Bologna Accord compliant or if the degree granting institution is recognized by the country's national or regional accreditation/quality assurance organization.

International applicants to the MBA degree program must submit the following to complete the application:

  • Online Application Form
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work accompanied by an English translation of all academic records and transcripts.

  • Official GMAT or General GRE score report. GMAT and GRE scores are valid for five years.  Information about the GMAT is available at mba.com. The GMAT code for the Willamette Full-Time MBA is 3MZ-PZ-27.  Information about the General GRE is available at gre.org. The GRE code for Willamette University is 4954.
  • Official TOEFL or IELTS Academic score report. The requirement to submit a TOEFL or IELTS Academic score may be waived for international students for whom English is the native language and for international students who completed their undergraduate education in the United States at an accredited U.S. college or university.
    • TOEFL: The TOEFL code for Willamette University is 4954. TOEFL scores are valid for two years. More information about the TOEFL is available at ets.org.  Applicants must submit a TOEFL score that meets one of the following requirements:
      IBT: Score of 88 or higher. Recommended subsection minimums are: Reading = 21; Listening = 21; Writing = 21, Speaking = 23
      CBT: Score of 230 or higher.
      PBT: Score of 570 or higher.
    • IELTS Academic: Applicants must submit an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher. Skill subscores in reading, listening, writing and speaking will also be reviewed. IELTS scores are valid for two years. More information about the IELTS is available at http://www.ielts.org/default.aspx
  • Essays as described on the application.
  • Two candidate evaluation forms or letters of reference. Evaluators must be people who are directly familiar with your academic, professional or leadership experience. References may be submitted via mail or electronically. (click here for information about submitting references via email)
  • Resume
  • I-20 Financial Documentation. International applicants must show the ability to fund educational and living expenses for the two year MBA program. The following documents must be received and approved by the school before an admitted student can receive an I-20.
    • Willamette MBA I-20 Financial Documentation Form
    • Official bank verification of funds (written in English), showing that you and/or your sponsor have sufficient resources to cover your educational and living expenses for the two year MBA program. Applicants who submit bank documents showing only one year of funding must attest that adequate funding is available from the same or equally dependable sources for the second year of the MBA program.
    • A photocopy of the name/photo page of your passport showing your name as presented and spelled on your passport.
  • $100 nonrefundable application fee (waived for applications submitted online)

Upon receipt of all application documents, applicants will be notified by e-mail about the interview process.

In addition to submitting appropriate application documents, applicants are evaluated on their ability to demonstrate the professional tools of initiative, motivation and communication while managing their application process.
