Here is your first edition of the Willamette MBA Newsletter for applicants and admitted applicants for fall semester 2013!
We Wish You A Joyous Holiday Season!
You will be receiving periodic newsletters and emails from me to keep you informed and
updated. I promise to keep them informative and short!
We hope you enjoy reading the latest information about the
programs and people of the Willamette MBA.
Every December, Willamette University and Salem community join together for the lighting of Willamette's
famed "Star Trees" in celebration of the holiday season. The five giant trees are shown in the banner at the top of this newsletter. The trees are called the "Star Trees" because when a person stands
in the center of the trees and looks upward, the five trees create
a star-shaped view of the sky.
Willamette University offices will close for the holidays at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st and reopen on January 2nd. Although I will not
be in the office, I will have periodic access to email and will be
happy to answer your questions via email.

Providing a World Class MBA Education
The Willamette MBA program is committed to providing a world class management education to U.S. and international students in all stages of their career. Several 2012 and 2011 recognitions confirm the Willamette MBA delivers on its promise of helping students and alumni "do well" and "do good."
In its 2012 ranking of the Top 100 U.S. MBA Programs, Poets & Quants, once again listed the Willamette MBA as the highest ranked MBA program in Oregon. Willamette was also included in the ranking for 2011 and 2010.
- The Aspen Institute's Beyond Grey Pinstripes Survey named the Willamette MBA # 23 of their Global 100 MBA programs for integrating ethics, social responsibility and environmental stewardship throughout the curriculum. Willamette MBA was also ranked #7 for the "impact" of our curriculum.
- Forbe's magazine ranked the Willamette MBA in their "Top 75 MBA Programs" for ROI (return on investment). Willamette was the only MBA program in Oregon ranked for ROI. Forbes completes their survey on a two year cycle. The next ranking will occur in the fall of 2013.
- Inc. Magazine named the Willamette MBA New Venture and Angel Investing course as "One of the Top-10 Entrepreneurship Courses in the U.S." Watch a video; read the full article on the Inc. magazine website.
New International Study Opportunities
This spring semester WU MBA is launching a new elective course that includes one week of travel abroad with visits to major companies and organizations. The spring 2013 course focuses on Brazil. We expect this course to focus on China for spring semester 2014.
The spring semester international study course is offered in addition to summer and fall semester exchange programs in France and Denmark.
Three Semesters of Internship Experience
The Willamette MBA internship program is just one way we help students build real work experience and professional skills while they complete their MBA. In fact, Willamette MBA students have the rare opportunity to participate in up to three semesters of internship experiences. Students can participate
in a full-time internship in the summer between the first and second year of study, a part-time internship during fall semester of the second year, and a part-time internship during spring semester of the second year. And, because most internships are paid, they provide a source of income that
can help students fund their educational and living expenses. The internship report for the summer of 2012 is available for your review.
Your Career Plans via CareerLeader
