Career Services Information
Here are career services opportunities you can participate in if you would like. These are optional for exchange students. Each activity listed below should be completed by the due date as listed. Email Judy O'Neill at joneill@willamette.edu if you cannot meet the due dates.

If you complete CareerLeader and submit your CareerLeader Insight Questionnaire, Advising Questionnaire and Resume by August 4th, you will qualify for early access to career services and can make an appointment to meet with Beth Ursin, Director of Career Services, during the week of August 11th.

CareerLeader - Complete Career Leader by August 4th. Beth Ursin, Director of Career Services for the Willamette MBA program, will use your CareerLeader results to work with you when school starts. If you have misplaced your log-in directions for CareerLeader, email Judy O'Neill at joneill@willamette.edu for access.

Advising Questionnaire - Complete and submit the Willamette MBA Advising Questionnaire online by August 4th . The questionnaire will be used to help our career services, advising and student affairs staff plan programs that meet your needs.

Resume - Email your resume in a Word or PDF document to Pam Nyburg, Career Services Administrative Assistant, at pnyburg@willamette.edu by August 4th

Early Access to Career Services - Complete all of the above assignments by August 4th to qualify for Early Access to Career Services. Opportunities to Purchase a Laptop through The Willamette Store
If you need to purchase your laptop you can do so through a private vendor or The Willamette Store (the Willamette University bookstore). The following information is provided by The Willamette Store.

The Willamette Store recommended laptop systems for 2008-09 include the HP 6720 and the Apple. The recommended systems can be viewed and ordered at http://www.willamette.edu/bookstore/computershop/cmp_shop.html. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions can be found at http://www.willamette.edu/bookstore/computershop/faqs.htm

HP 6720: The Willamette Store will have some of the HP6720 systems in stock and available for purchase at The Willamette Store before Compass Week. If you prefer to pre-order your system you can do so at http://www.willamette.edu/bookstore/computershop/hpform.htm. If you pre-order your computer, be sure to fax your credit card authorization form to The Willamette Store at 503-375-5466. If you pre-order, you will pick up your new computer at The Willamette Store. The Willamette Store cannot ship computers.

Apple: If you are interested in ordering a Mac, you can order it though Apple or The Willamette Store. The Willamette Store does not carry Apple computers in stock but will happily place the order for you.

To order from Apple, go to The Willamette Store's Apple site. Apple discounts their MacBooks by $100, and their MacBook Pros by $200. They offer free shipping, but if there is a sales tax in your state, you will have to pay the sales tax.

To order from The Willamette Store, send The Willamette Store your order and they will place the order for you. To do this, you will need to be sure to complete the credit card authorization form and fax it to The Willamette Store at 503-375-5466. If there is a sales tax in your state, you WILL NOT have to pay a sales tax if you order through The Willamette Store (because Oregon doesn't have a sales tax). Your new computer will be delivered to The Willamette Store where you can pick it up. The Willamette Store cannot ship computers.

Reminders from Previous Postings and Emails


MBA International Student Orientation (MISO) is August 14th through August 15
th
This special two day program is designed especially for our new international MBA students by our MBA students and staff! The purpose of the program is to be educational, fun, and help with your transition to the U.S., Oregon and Willamette.


Willamette International Student Orientation is August 19th
Chris Andresen, Associate Director of International Education, will lead an important orientation program for international students on Tuesday, August 19th. This orientation will address a variety of topics, including services for international students, visa issues, information about CPT, OPT, etc. International students should be sure to bring all of their important documents (passport, visa, I-20 or DS-2019, and I-94) to the orientation. Compass Week Begins August 20th

Compass Week is a required for all new students and will include important academic, professional and social activities. Appropriate dress for Wednesday, August 20th is "formal business attire" (suit and tie for men, equivalent professional attire for women). Appropriate dress for Thursday, August 21st "casual - athletic clothes and tennis shoes." Appropriate dress for Friday, August 22nd is "business casual - nice clothes but suits not required." More information will be provided as we get closer to August.


Health History and Immunization Records

Oregon state law requires all new students to provide immunization and health records. Forms to be completed are available online in pdf format and are linked below. Be sure to complete the health history, immunization, and tuberculosis forms as soon as possible and send them to the Willamette University Bishop Wellness Center.

If you need the measles immunization (MMR) or the PPDTB test, you can get them on campus during Compass Week. The date and time will be announced on the Compass Week Schedule. The cost for the MMR vaccination is $58. The PPDTB test is $10. Charges for vaccinations will be billed to your Willamette University student account.

[Note: If you have recently been enrolled in the Willamette University College of Law or College of Liberal Arts, you should update the health history form, but you do not need to resubmit the immunization and tuberculosis forms.

Willamette MBA International Arrival Team
We have a special team of stuents and staff to help you when you arrive! They will gather information about your arrival (date, time, airline), pick you up at the Portland Airport (PDX), help you find a place to live when you are here, help you get your bank account started, show you around campus, and be great resources for you! You will receive your first email from them soon and we will have members of the arrival team as featured guests on upcoming online chats. This year's team is:
