Opportunities to Purchase a Laptop through The Willamette Store
If you need to purchase your laptop you can do so through a private vendor or The Willamette Store (the Willamette University bookstore). The following information is provided by The Willamette Store.

The Willamette Store recommended laptop systems for 2009-10 include the Dell Studio 1555, the HP 6735S and the Apple Macbook. The recommended systems can be viewed and ordered aonline from The Willamtte Store's Computer Shop.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions are also available.

The Willamette Store will have some of the windows based systems in stock and available for purchase at The Willamette Store. It is usually best to pre-order your system so you can customize the system to the specifications you want. If you pre-order, you will pick up your new computer at The Willamette Store. The Willamette Store cannot ship computers.

If you are interested in ordering a Mac, you can preorder it though our Online Apple Store . The Willamette Store does not carry Apple computers in stock but will happily place the order for you.

Your new computer will be delivered to The Willamette Store where you can pick it up (which is good, because Oregon does not have a sales tax). . The Willamette Store cannot ship computers.

Using Financial Aid Funds to Buy Your Laptop
The cost to purchase the required laptop can be included in your financial aid budget. If you plan to use funds from your Stafford Loan or private loan to pay for you laptop, contact Katy Wilson, Senior Financial Aid Counselor, (gradaid@willamette.edu , 503-370-6273, toll free in U.S. 1-877-744-3736) and submit the Budget Adjustment Form to Katy. You can access the Budget Adjustment Form online.

If you are planning to use financial aid funds to pay for your laptop, be sure sure to purchase your laptop before August 24th and use your financial aid funds to reimburse yourself. Financial aid funds cannot be disbursed before August 21st.



Reminder -- Do Your Career Management Do List
Be sure to do your Career Management to do list by August 4th! Email Judy O'Neill at joneill@willamette.edu if you cannot meet the due dates.

If you complete CareerLeader and submit your CareerLeader Insight Questionnaire, Advising Questionnaire and Resume by August 3rd, you will qualify for early access to career services and can make an appointment to meet with the Atkinson School Career Management staff during the week of August 11th.

Advising Questionnaire - Complete and submit the Willamette MBA Advising Questionnaire online by August 3rd. The questionnaire will be used to help our career management, advising and student affairs staff plan programs that meet your needs.

Resume - Willamette MBA Standard Format - Produce your resume in the standard Willamette MBA format (click here for a pdf sample of the format). Important facts to note about the template are: 1) it can be used by students with or without significant work experience; 2) use past tense action words; 3) focus on results and accomplishments rather than duties and responsibilities; and 4) one page in length. Email your resume in a Word or PDF document to Pam Nyburg, Career Management Administrative Assistant, at pnyburg@willamette.edu by August 3rd.

CareerLeader Insight Questionnaire - Download the questionnaire at http://agsm.willamette.edu/career/newsletter/AdmittedStudentDownloads/CareerLeaderInsights.doc . Complete the document, save the document (please put your name in the document file name) and email it to Pam Nyburg, Career Management Administrative Assistant, at pnyburg@willamette.edu by August 3rd.

Mentorship Program Application - Learn about the Mentorship Program and complete the Mentorship Program Application online by August 3rd if you want to be considered for selection for the 2009-10 Mentorship Program. (Note: if a log in box comes up when you click on the application, just click "cancel" on the box and the box should go away)

Early Access to Career Management Services - Complete all of the above assignments by August 3rd to qualify for Early Access to Career Management services. The Career Management staff will be happy to meet with you or talk with you by telephone on August 11, 12, or 13 (and, of course, after school starts). If you qualify for early access, contact Pam Nyburg, at pnyburg@willamette.edu or call 503-370-6167 after August 6th to make your appointment.

 

More Off-Campus Housing Opportunities
Here are two new announcements we have heard about:

* Roommate Wanted: An alum of the Willamette University's College of Liberal Arts and Master of Arts in Teaching programs is looking for a roommate. She has "a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment in West Salem and is looking for a female roommate to share the apartment.  Rent would be $335 per month plus half of the bills (usually about $50).  The room will be available from August 9th." * Atkinson School alumni Dan and Angela Mahoney will have a small studio apartment for rent at 14th and Court NE available in early August. They will also have a one or two bedroom at 19th and Bellevue SE. Contact Angela at Angela@mahoney-associates.com
