Living and Learning Oregon
Noted for an excellent quality of life, friendly people, mild climate and quick access to an abundant array of natural resources, Oregon has practically everything you would want. Students can ski the Cascade Mountains, enjoy beautiful beaches along Oregon's Pacific Coast, windsurf in the picturesque Columbia River Gorge, and hike in the many forested areas in and around Salem. Oregon is also home to a multitude of business, government and not-for-profit organizations that provide internships, jobs and networking opportunities to Willamette MBA students.
Salem, Oregon - Willamette University's Home
Willamette's Campus is spacious and beautiful, and located across the street from the Oregon State Capitol near downtown Salem. The comfort and convenience of campus life are supported by a variety of Willamette University services and facilities -- libraries, fitness and recreation, entertainment, dining, health center, gardens, the famous Star Trees, Cone Chapel, mail center, travel agency, bookstore, and more.
The downtown area of Salem is a short walk from the Atkinson School, offering major department stores linked with sky-bridges, traditional and ethnic restaurants, coffeehouses and movie theaters. Salem is home to many historic sites, 96 city parks, indoor and outdoor concerts featuring international performers, art and wine festivals, bike paths and running trails. Students can enjoy Riverfront Park for rollerblading, running and picnicking or attend a concert or local event. Each year Salem hosts sporting events (including the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes baseball team), a Brew Festival (featuring locally made beer) and a world-renown Art Festival at nearby Bush Park. Life in Salem is pleasant and only as fast-paced as you want it to be. It offers a lifestyle that is friendly, uncomplicated and inexpensive compared to the larger cities of the West.

Portland, Oregon - A World-Class City
Just a short 45 minute commute from Salem is Portland, Oregon's largest city and a cultural and business hub. Sport enthusiasts will enjoy cheering on the Portland Trailblazers (professional basketball) and Portland Timbers (professional soccer). Music lovers will savor the sound of the Oregon Symphony, Portland Opera, or one of Portland's many indy rock bands. The Portland Center Stage theater company, Broadway Across America, Third Rail Repertory Theater, and Portland Art Museum, among many others, add to Portland's thriving art scene.
Willamette University established a campus in Portland in 2006 - located in the famous Pearl District, known for art galleries, boutique stores, restaurants and Powell's, the world's largest independent bookstore. Professional activities and student meetings may be held at the Portland Center for full-time MBA students.
