At the November SCIP event you will learn about the balance between market share, price, profitability, and calculating the optimum market position through market modeling. The event will be structured as a short presentation followed by a lengthy interactive discussion. Market modeling offers a robust way to understand the competitive market environment.

The predictive power of modeling helps business decision makers understand the competitive environment and optimize their position. The optimum market position is one where any increase in share results in a decrease in profitability. Modeling helps business decision makers target optimum profitability instead of unprofitable share. The presentation will use the Nintendo Wii as a case study and show how market modeling would have helped Nintendo better estimate demand, better optimize the Wii price point, and avoid missing $660 million in profit.

Presenter:
Beau Martin is co-founder of Laventall Martin. He is a former Vice President and head of Interbrand's analytics and solutions architectures team. His experience leading the advanced analytics team served many top global market leaders across numerous industries, and his work has received a number of top honors including an SPSS Insights
