Courses and Credits Taken at the Exchange Institution
Summer Semester Exchange Programs: Exchange students who participate
in a summer semester exchange program must enroll in and complete a minimum
of 12 MBA level ECTS credits and earn a grade of "pass" or higher.
Successful completion of a minimum of 12 ECTS credits during a summer semester
exchange program results in 6 credits of GSM elective course work.
Fall
Semester Exchange Programs:
Exchange students who participate in the fall semester exchange program
at Copenhagen or Strasbourg must enroll in
and earn
a grade
of "pass" or
higher in 30 ECTS credits of MBA level approved elective course
work at their exchange institution during their fall semester of
exchange. Successful completion
of 30 ECTS credits during a fall semester exchange program results
in 15 credits of GSM elective course work.
Exchange students who participate in the fall semester exchange program
at Bordeaux must enroll in
and earn
a grade
of "pass" or
higher in 24 ECTS credits of MBA level approved elective course
work at their exchange institution during their fall semester of
exchange. Successful completion
of 24 ECTS credits during a fall semester exchange program results
in 12 credits of GSM elective course work.
The specific number of courses that
must be taken
to earn the required number of ECTS credits varies with the exchange institution.
Exchange students participating in a fall semester exchange must provide a list of the courses for which they are registered at the exchange institution to Judy O'Neill before courses begin. Information provided about each course must include the course title, course number and the number of ECTS credit value of the course. Exchange students must also notify Judy O'Neill of any changes in registration at the exchange institution.
Five Semester Dual Degree Exchange Program: Exchange
students who participate in the five semester dual degree exchange
program with
BEM must
enroll in and earn a grade of "pass" or higher in a minimum
60 ECTS credits of MBA level approved course work (30 ECTS credits
in the fall semester
and 30 ECTS credits in the spring semester). Six of these ECTS
credits must be from
course work in Strategic Management.
Successful completion of the ECTS credits
described above results in 30 total credits of 2nd year GSM elective
course work of which 3 credits are Strategic
Management.
Dual degree students
return to the Atkinson for fall semester of the third year. During
this fifth semester of full time study students complete 15 credits of
GSM course work.
Exchange students participating in the dual degree must provide a list of the courses for which they are registered at the exchange institution to Judy O'Neill before courses begin. This must occur for fall semester and spring semester. Information provided about each course must include the course title, course number and the number of ECTS credit value of the course. Exchange students must also notify Judy O'Neill of any changes in registration at the exchange institution.
Registration and Credits at Atkinson While on Exchange
Atkinson exchange students will be enrolled at Willamette while
on exchange. Exchange students will register for the GSM
International Exchange course appropriate for their exchange program (GSM 740, 741,
742, 743, 744, or 745).
International Exchange courses are graded Pass/Fail for MBA students. Passing
grades received from the exchange university will be recorded as "Pass" by
the Atkinson School. The Atkinson School transcript will list the name of
the exchange institution, courses completed and the P/F grade assigned.
International Exchange courses are graded courses for JD/MBA students.
The Atkinson School transcript will list the name of the exchange institution,
courses completed
and the grade assigned by the exchange institution.
At the completion of the exchange semester, all exchange
students must order an official copy of their transcript from the exchange
school to be sent to the Atkinson School. The official transcript should
be mailed to the Assistant Dean and Director of Admission of the Willamette
MBA program.
Specific Academic Regulations Related to Exchange
Credits
- Students participating in a fall semester exchange program at Copenhagen or Strasbourg must successfully complete and pass a minimum of 30 ECTS credits at the exchange institution to complete the 15 credit GSM MBA International Exchange course for fall semester.
- Students participating in a fall semester exchange program at Bordeaux Strasbourg must successfully complete and pass a minimum of 24 ECTS credits at the exchange institution to complete the 12 credit MBA International Exchange course for fall semester.
- Students participating in a summer semester exchange program must successfully complete and pass a minimum of 12 ECTS credits at the exchange institution to complete the 6 credits of GSM International Exchange course for summer semester.
- Students participating in the MBA/MSc dual degree with Bordeaux, must complete and pass a minimum of 60 approved ECTS credits at BEM (30 per semester) to complete the 30 credits of GSM MBA International Exchange Dual Degree courses.
- A maximum of 15 semester credits from fall semester exchange programs may be applied toward graduation requirements of the Willamette MBA program.
- A maximum of 6 semester credits from summer semester exchange programs may be applied toward the graduation requirement of the Willamette MBA program.
- A maximum of 30 semester credits from approved fall and spring semester course work at BEM as part of the dual degree MBA/MSc program may be applied toward graduation requirements of the Willamette MBA program.
- Students participating in an exchange program should refer to academic regulations governing the total number of Pass/Fail, waived or transfer credits which may be applied toward MBA graduation requirements. In general, except in the case of the WU/BEM five semester dual degree, the combination of credits from the following courses cannot exceed 21 credits: Pass/Fail courses, Exchange Programs, Foreign Language Study, Internship, Independent Study, Research, waived credits, and transfer credits.
- At the completion of the exchange semester, all exchange students must order an official copy of their transcript from the exchange school to be sent to the Atkinson School. The official transcript should be mailed to the Assistant Dean and Director of Admission of the Willamette MBA program.
