Jackson Rayne (aka Jason Rowtan)  is a recent graduate who has used his liberal arts education in an interesting way: He's a nationally-known illusionist who enjoys breaking world records.

Tired of staring at your computer screen, searching for career advice? We’re introducing a new face-to-face workshop series designed to help you navigate today’s world of work while you tap into the power of the Willamette Career Network.

Update: Due to demand, we will be offering additional rounds of workshops. These will begin in November 2008, but stay tuned for details of workshops to come early next year as well.

Richard Ellis named Oregon Professor of the Year

Professor Richard Ellis of the Department of Politics has been named Oregon Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. He's the ninth member of the Willamette faculty to receive the honor.

Willamette football passes to second round of NCAA Div. III playoffs

The Bearcats successfully defended their undefeated record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs last Saturday. Following the victory over Occidental, the Bearcats now look forward to another home field advantage this Saturday.

Willamette alumni garner awards...for strange career paths?

Willamette alumni find their way to some interesting jobs. Some acquire job titles that are familiar, of course, and some find those that are non-traditional. Some alumni do jobs you might never have even heard of.

Moreover, many Willamette grads end up in places they would never have imagined when they chose their major.

We decided to investigate. We developed a “You’re Doing What with Your Degree?” event and ended up recognizing six alumni in particular for taking unique or unexpected career paths and ending up in some truly remarkable places.
