Career Network: New Utilities, New Events

You've heard about new services coming from the growing Career Network, and the first of several has arrived: CareerBeam.

CareerBeam is an online dashboard encompassing all of the steps in managing an effective career search. Alumni Relations and the undergraduate Career Services office have teamed up to provide the third-party utility for free to alumni and current students, all of whom can register for an account and begin organizing and researching right away.

Here are a handful of CareerBeam's features:

  • Job Triggers: You tell CareerBeam what job listings or opportunities would be appropriate for you, and you get notified when they come up
  • Company Intelligence: Learn about the companies you're after before you initiate contact. Track their performance and your interactions with them
  • Industry Research Database: Follow the trends and tendencies in your potential area(s) of work to keep the edge on the competition

Visit the CareerBeam page on our website to learn more and get started.

Call for Nominations: You're Doing What With Your Degree?

Last year's "You're Doing What With Your Degree?" award program was one of our most popular ever. This year we're optimistic for a repeat -- but we need your help.

The now-annual nomination process, which showcases Willamette alumni who have made their way into unusual or interesting professions (liberal arts graduates are good at that), is shaped by contributions from you. Do you know of an alumnus who would be a good fit?

Nominate someone online

Just fill out the online nomination form (above) and your contribution will be considered as the Career Network selects this year's winners. Be as specific and detailed as possible -- we want to know just why you think your nominee deserves the award!

We'll ask you to help us once more by submitting your vote for your favorite nominee. Stay tuned for more information -- but don't forget to make a nomination first!
