Willamette University Ranks Among the Best for Scholarship, Service and Student Support

Willamette was recently recognized among the leading national liberal arts colleges by Washington Monthly.

In its rankings of the nation’s private and public institutions of higher education, Washington Monthly measured three criteria: research, service and social mobility. Their rankings, based on an analysis of publicly available data, evaluate America's universities and colleges on their contributions to scientific discovery and the cultivation of future scientists and researchers, ability to instill a sense of giving back among the student body, and recruiting and graduating students with financial need.

“Willamette University at its core has always been committed to public service, superior scholarship and offering financial assistance to students in need. I am pleased that we are being recognized for how well we are upholding values that are intrinsic to our university community. We are dedicated to helping our graduates become accountable, motivated leaders who will work towards bettering the world through their chosen professions,” commented M. Lee Pelton, president of Willamette University.

Washington Monthly's top rankings for Willamette follow other high-profile accolades for the University that have emerged recently, including being featured in The Princeton Review's 2010 edition of "The Best 371 Colleges," listed among Sierra Magazine's top 20 "Cool Schools" as one of the nation's greenest universities, ranked among U.S. News' Top 100 liberal arts colleges, and named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in 2009 for exemplary service to America's communities.

The Washington Monthly is a monthly magazine of United States politics and government that is based in Washington, D.C.
