Athletic Hall of Fame dinner -- this Saturday at the conference center

The purpose of the Willamette Athletic Hall of Fame is to formally recognize outstanding contributions to the heritage and tradition of the Bearcat intercollegiate athletic program. Criteria for selection includes achievements while at the University, plus accomplishments in sports later in life.

Each inductee receives a plaque that includes a photograph and citation highlighting the accomplishments of the inductee. A duplicate plaque is displayed in a glass case adjacent to the west end of Cone Field House, near the lobby of the Sparks Center.

This year's induction dinner is coming up this Saturday, Nov. 5. Register online, or visit the Hall of Fame info page to learn more.

Help WU via the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award!

Liberty Mutual, who partners with colleges and university alumni associations all over the country, offers a Coach of the Year program for football annually to rally alumni and recognize coaches who are making a difference.

The award celebrates college football coaches who best demonstrate the qualities of responsibility, integrity, and excellence. Four winning coaches each receive $20,000 for their school’s alumni association (that's you!) and $50,000 for the charity of his choice.

Willamette Head Football Coach Mark Speckman has been a national finalist for the award in the past -- and this year, it's up to us to vote and propel him into the top tier where he belongs once again.
