Upcoming Career Center Events Letter

Dear Parents,

We want to let you know about several career events this semester that can help your Willamette student move forward in their career. Please encourage your student to inquire further about the events below, as well as other opportunities.

Vocational Discernment Retreat - Feb. 21-23, off campus. This is an excellent program for students who want to reflect on their skills, values, interests, and who they might become as it relates to vocational issues.

Big Life Plan - The topics covered are similar to the retreat but are held each week on campus.

First Avenue Career Fair - It’s a consortium event with seven other universities. It’s the largest career fair in Oregon, and Willamette students attend every year.

Conversations & Connections - Saturday Feb. 8, 2014 at The Ram Restaurant & Brewery from 3:00-4:30 pm. This Alumni-student event helps students meet and network with alumni who successfully leveraged their liberal arts degree.

Willamette's 1st Annual Career Strategies Boot Camp - Saturday, March 15 from 8:30-5:30. Speakers, hands-on workshops and alumni networking opportunities for seniors who need to ramp up their preparation for life after college. This event is for seniors only.

Opportunity Fair - Apr. 10 from 3-6 pm at the Cat Cavern. Many non-profit organizations recruit part-time and volunteer students for their programs.

Revolutionary Optimists - Feb. 12 and 13. Film screening and panel discussion sponsored by the pre-health organizations. Film director and Stanford MD practitioner discusses how public health efforts enabled children from the slums of Kolkata, India to change their world.

As always, the Career Center provides individual counseling and advisement to help students discover their unique skills, decide on their major, and select long term career goals.  We provide many resources and connections that result in jobs and employment.
