Distinguished Alumni Citation
Laurie (Monnes) Anderson ’68
Area: Public Service
Laurie Monnes Anderson received a degree in biology from Willamette and was an active participant in the Pi Beta Phi sorority, university choir, acting and Honeybears.
Gary L. Beck ’64
Area: Science
Gary Beck graduated from Willamette with a degree in chemistry. He met his wife, Sally Jo Plessinger ’65, at while attending the university and joins both his father and one daughter as alumni.
William Long ’59
Area: Business
William (Bill) Long graduated from Willamette with a major in political science. He was a key member of the football team, where he was first-team all-conference for three years and was named Little All-America first-team as a senior.
Young Alumni Leadership Award
Julie (Trott) Kennedy ’99
Area: Education/Community Service
Julie (Trott) Kennedy majored in chemistry at Willamette and received a number of scholarships and honors. Among these are the Colonel Percy Willis Award and a Senior Key. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was honored as Greek Woman of the Year.

Jim Booth ’64
Jim Booth graduated from Willamette with degrees in economics and mathematics. He was a prolific member of the community: During his time at Willamette, he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and participated in basketball, baseball, football and track, ultimately receiving the 1964 Scholar Athlete of the Year award (J.H. Booth Award).
Joan McNamara ’59
Joan (Sherrill) McNamara graduated with honors in psychology, having served as senior scholar in the department. At Willamette she was a member of Mortar Board; president of Psi Chi; vice president of the Delta Gamma sorority; junior class secretary; and president of Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshman women’s scholastic honorary organization.
