Willamette Swim School
Each session is two weeks, Monday-Friday.
Each lesson is 30 minutes in length.
Payment required upon registration.
Class Descriptions
Beginner 1: An introductory class for novices. Skills taught include back and front floating, breath holding, exhaling in water, front and back sculling, kicking and water respect.
Beginner 2: Skills taught include kicking on back and front, rhythmic breathing, full arm movements for freestyle and backstroke (for 10-15 yards); May include breaststroke kick, elementary backstroke, survival floating and preliminary diving skills.
Advanced Beginner: Continue stroke technique for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, teach proper movements for breaststroke, diving skills.
Intermediate: Continue stroke technique for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, teaching diving skills, sidestroke, basic water safety.
Pre-Competitive: Teach competitive techniques for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, using various drills and equipment. Teach appropriate turns and starts. This is a good precursor to joining a competitive swimming team.
Registration Information
You can register by calling (503) 370-6601 or (503) 581-9642. Leave your name and phone number on the answering machine and coach Stephenson will return your call as soon as possible. When registration is done by phone (after May 16) the $45.00 class fee must be received within 3 days to assure and secure the class. If the fee is not received the class will be filled with other students.
Class size will be limited to 5 students whenever possible (i.e, change of class assignments) for Beg. I, Beg. II, and to ensure a quality and positive experience for your child. Students must be 4 years old or older.
After May 10th, you may register in person between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the Sparks Pool Office.
