Dan Nugent - Basketball

Dan Nugent is off to a great start in his freshman season of Bearcat Hoop. During the month of December, he scored 129 points in seven games to average 18.4 points per contest. He also averaged 6.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.6 blocked shots. He connected on 61.7% of his field goals (50 of 81) during the month, while sinking 23 of 30 free throws (76.7%). On Dec. 1, in a 140-137 triple-overtime loss at the University of Puget Sound, he scored a season-high 34 points. Later in the month, at the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Tournament, hosted California Lutheran University on Dec. 29-30, Nugent averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to earn All-Tournament honors and help the Bearcats take second place. In Willamette’s first 11 games of the season (played in November and December), Nugent scored 189 points (17.2 avg.) and grabbed 67 rebounds (6.1 avg.).

Keilyn Fujioka - Basketball

Keilyn Fujioka, in her first season as a Bearcat, has proven to be a major contributor to the Willamette University women’s basketball team. The 6’1” forward averaged 10.8 points and 9.3 rebounds in December, while shooting 63.8% from the floor (30 of 47) and 55.6% at the line (5 of 9). She also provided four blocked shots, four steals and two assists in six games. On Dec. 30th, Fujioka led the Bearcats with a season-high 23 points and tied a season-high with 15 rebounds, as Willamette defeated Cal State-East Bay, 66-52, in the Peninsula Hoops Classic at Menlo College. Against East Bay, she was 11 of 12 on field goals (91.7%) and recorded her second double-double of the year. Fujioka’s season totals in 11 games prior to January, were 99 points (9.0 avg.) and 95 rebounds (8.6 avg.). She was leading the Bearcats with 54.3% shooting on field goals (44 of 81) and ranked first on the team with 12 blocked shots (1.1 avg.).
