David Rigsby became the director of athletics at Willamette University in 2011 after serving as the associate dean of campus life.
Rigsby was a member of the baseball team at WU for two years before his career was shortened by an arm injury. He earned a B.A. degree from Willamette in 2000 with a major in Chemistry, and later added an M.S. degree from Duquesne University.
He returned to WU as an employee in 2004 and has held a variety of positions, including assistant dean, interim director of career services, associate dean of campus life and interim co-dean of campus life. Rigsby has been a leader of numerous strategic initiatives and projects, including the creation of the Kaneko Commons, developing the Virtual Career Center and serving on the Trustee Working Group on Athletics.
Rigsby has established working relationships throughout the campus, and is the president of the local chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious academic honor society in the nation. In the local community, he is a former board member of the Salem Art Association and has served as the chair of the Clay Ball twice. Rigsby and his wife, Rebekah, also a Willamette graduate, live in Salem and are the parents of Luke, age 8, Devon, age 4, and Sean, age 2.
