Simmie Muth leads WU to easy win over Elms

HONOLULU — Junior guard Simmie Muth had game-highs of 26 points and five assists Monday afternoon as Willamette defeated Elms (Mass.) College 92-40 in the third and final day of the Division III Shootout at Kaimuki High School.

Muth connected on 11 of 18 field goal attempts in just 25 minutes of play as the Bearcats won their second in a row to improve to 6-3 on the year.

Willamette took a commanding 48-18 lead at intermission.

The Bearcats also got 12 points and eight steals from senior guard Rosie Contri. Abbie Unick added 10 points for the winners and Danielle Page chipped in with eight points and six steals.

Willamette had 29 steals in the game, compared to just six by Elms.

The Bearcats return home Saturday to open the Northwest Conference season against Pacific Lutheran. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. in Cone Field House.
