Three Bearcats score 15 points in win over Illinois Wesleyan
HONOLULU — Rosie Contri, Simmie Muth and Deanna Lund each scored 15 points Sunday night as Willamette defeated Illinois Wesleyan 64-57 during the second day of the three-day Division III Shootout at Kaimuki High School.
The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for the Bearcats (5-3), heading into their third and final game of the tournament Monday afternoon against Elms (Mass.) College.
Lund scored her 15 points in just 21 minutes of action, connecting on seven of eight field goal attempts. She also added six rebounds.
Contri, who scored 18 points in Saturday’s 73-53 loss to Lake Forest (Ill.), converted four of nine shots from the field and made all six free throws.
Muth made two of her three three-point shots and added three assists and three steals for the winners.
Willamette also got eight points and eight rebounds from Nancy Weyler.
