Bearcats Fall to Whitman 65-57
WALLA WALLA, WA — Vanessa Wyffels scored 10 points and Laura Payne added 14, but the Willamette university Bearcats lost a Northwest Conference game 65-57 to Whitman Friday night in Walla Walla.
Wyffels, the nation’s leader in field goal percentage, scored her 20 points on 8-13 shooting. She also added a game-high 11 rebounds. Along with Payne’s 14 points, Jennifer Bell scored 8 and Kari Woody added six.
The game was tied at halftime, 23-23. But after a quick hoop by the Bearcat to open the second half, Whitman went on an 11-0 run to break open the contest.
Whitman was led by Lizzy Washburn with 17 points and Sarah Laird with 16.
The Bearcats finish the season on the road against Whitworth Saturday night.
