Kuteira leads Bearcats to fourth in Pacific Invitational
FOREST GROVE - Sophomore Rio Kuteira shot back-to-back rounds of 77 Wednesday and Thursday at Pumpkin Ridge's Ghost Creek Course to lead Willamette to fourth place in the Pacific Invitational.
Kuteria's 36-hole total of 154 over the 6,451-yard layout was 13 shots behind medalist Jeff Dunn of Linfield (141).
Puget Sound (631) won the tournament by a single shot over Linfield (632). The University of Victoria (644) finished third, followed by Willamette (646), Pacific (652) and Pacific Lutheran (652) , Lewis & Clark (687) and Whitman (689).
WU freshman Dave Eaton and sophomore Kris Hunt shot two-day totals of 165 and 166, respectively.
The Bearcats are idle until the 54-hole Northwest Conference championship tournament, which will be held April 21-22 at Tokatee Golf Course near Blue River, Ore.
