Muren named NWC Women's Athlete of the Week
Natalie Muren, a freshman from McNary High in Keizer, was named on Monday as the Northwest Conference Women's Athlete of the Week for track & field.
Muren, who last year attended Grinnell College (Iowa) but did not participate in track, placed second in the Willamette Invitational's 5,000 meters in a time of 17:38.0.
That time provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Division III championship meet and ranks No. 2 all-time in Willamette history.
The NCAA automatic time for the 5,000 is 17:15.00. The WU school record in that event of 17:21.94 was set in 1985 by Kara Crisifulli, a member of the Willamette University Athletic Hall of Fame.
