LAST WEEK: Six Bearcats post NCAA provisional qualifying marks in Invitational

Despite cold, rainy and windy weather over the weekend, six Bearcats posted NCAA Division III provisional qualifying marks in the two-day Willamette Invitational. The Invitational drew more than 1,000 entrants from throughout the West Coast and by the time the meet was over, six Charles Bowles Track records were broken.

Willamette’s NCAA provisional qualifiers:
Sophomore Scott Overby (Barlow HS) placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:17.9. (NCAA automatic: 9:06.40)
• Freshman Natalie Muren (McNary HS) placed second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 17:38.0, which ranks No. 2 all-time in Willamette history. (NCAA automatic: 17:15.00)
• Junior Kari Holbert (Gresham HS), running her first 5,000 ever, placed fourth in a time of 17:48.0. That time puts her No. 4 all-time at WU. She also is ranked in the all-time top 10 in the 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, 400 hurdles, heptathlon, 800, 1,500 and 3,000 steeplechase.
• Junior Jake Stout (Portland Christian HS/lives in Brush Prairie, Wash.) placed fourth in the 5,000 meters in 14:39.1. (NCAA automatic: 14:32.00)
• Sophomore Aaron Hollingshead (David Douglas HS) placed 11th in the 5,000 in a time of 14:50.0.
• Sophomore Alicia Andrews (Asotin HS, Wash.) placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:15.58. (NCAA automatic: 2:12.00)

Two other Willamette highlights were: Jazzmin Reece (Jr., Sehome HS, Wash.) winning the 100 in 12.3, a time that ranks No. 3 all-time in Bearcat history; and Danielle Page (So., Bellarmine Prep, Wash.) placing third in the triple jump at 36-5, a mark that improves her No.2 all-time mark at WU by three-quarters of an inch. The school record in that event is 38-6 set in 1989 by Lara Wright.
