Men's Lightweight 4 finishes fourth in Dad Vail Regatta
PHILADELPHIA - The Willamette Men's Lightweight 4 crew finished fourth at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday.
The Bearcat crew finished in a 2,000-meter time of 7:06.3, placing behind Georgia Tech (6:47.6), St. Thomas (6:53.6) and Kansas (7:06.2). WU finished just ahead of Ohio U. (7:06.6) and Duquense (7:10.7).
The Lightweight 4 won its heat on Friday ahead of Pittsburgh in a time of 7:00.1, then placed second in Saturday's semifinal behind St. Thomas (6:49.6) in a time of 6:55.2.
The Willamette Lightweight crew was composed of coxswain Nate Tjoa, four seat Aaron Benson, three seat Larry Barsukoff, two seat Nathan Trenholme and bow seat Lopaka Purdy.
The Bearcats' Men's Varsity 4 placed fourth in their heat Friday in a time of 7:12.0, but did not advance. That crew finished behind Wake Forest, Pittsburgh and Delaware.
