Bearcat Men Tie Hayward 3-3 in 2 OT
SALEM: Adam Moshofsky had a goal and two assists in his first
collegiate game as a Bearcat forward as the Willamette University
men’s soccer team opened their season with a 3-3 tie at home
against Cal-State Hayward.
CSH’s Cesar Sanchez scored with just under five minutes left in the game to tie the game. The teams played two scoreless overtime periods.
Moshofsky’s goal with just under ten minutes left to play had put the Bearcats up 3-2. Pat Wettach, who scored the Bearcats first goal, and Ricardo Sanchez had assists on Moshofsky’s goal.
Wettach’s goal at the ten minute mark of the first half tied the game just a minute after Gorkis Robles had put Cal State on top. Moshofsky got the assist on Wettach’s goal.
Moshofsky’s other assist came early in the second half when he found Ben DeSanno for a score to put the Bearcats up 2-1.
Brian Bluford tied the game for Cal State off an assist from Miguel Mendoza.
For the game, Cal State outshot the Bearcats 33-14. But goalkeeper Dane Meier had 15 saves for Willamette. The teams combined for 38 fouls and five yellow cards in the hard-fought, but physical, game.
