Bearcat Women Remain Undefeated with 4-0 Win At Pacific
FOREST GROVE — Nicole Dahl, starting at forward for the injured Anne Merten, scored for the second straight game as the Willamette University women’s soccer team remained undefeated with a 4-0 win over Pacific.
The Bearcats are now 7-0 overall, 2-0 in the Northwest Conference
Dahl (pictured left) broke a scoreless tie at the 37-minute mark of the first half when she scored from 20 yards out on an assist by Brenna Hindman.
The Bearcats, behind a solid defense, put the game away in the second half.
Freshman Michelle Gregiore scored the first of her two consecutive goals in the 63rd minute on an assist from Jessica Lammers. Her second goal of the game and eighth of the season came less than ten minutes later on another assist from Hindmann.
Trisha Kilgus added the final goal in the 78th minute.
The Bearcat defense, led by Kara Forsyth, Cayly Christensen, Joelle Muchlinski and Stacey Clarke, limited Pacific to only three shots. Freshman goalie Kari Woody needed only to make one save in the match.
The Bearcats play at George Fox on Sunday before returning home next weekend for a pair of games. Willamette faces a key NWC game on Saturday when they host last year’s NWC co-champs, the University of Puget Sound, at noon.
