Bearcats def. By Lutes in 5 Games
Salem - In conference play the Bearcats, making 62 kills and 11 total team blocks, weren't able to hold off the Lutes with 72 kills and 12 total team blocks.
The Bearcats are now 13-7, 5-5 NWC and the Lutes improve to 15-4, 7-2 NWC.
This was the second meeting this season between these two teams. The Lutes came out on top 3-0 in September. This match- up saw a stronger more competitive Willamette volleyball team, that gave the Lutes some trouble after it looked like they would shut the Bearcats out again.
Instead the Lutes took the first two games 21-30 and 23-30, but Willamette came back to make it a five game match by winning the third and the fourth games 30-24 and 30-23. The fifth and final game was a definitive win for the Lutes 9-15.
Kristin Halleck made 15 kills and had 57 total attempts, Lauren Thompson had 13 kills and 35 total attempts. For the Lutes, Stephanie Turner had 21 kills and 51 total attempts.
The Bearcats will play Whitman in Salem on October 25 at 7:00pm.
