Bearcats Take Nationally Ranked Puget Sound Loggers in 3 Games
Salem - The Loggers, ranked 17th in the nation according to the AVCA, was downed in 3 games this evening in conference play against the Willamette Bearcats at home.
For Willamette, coming through strong were senior Jenni Linden, who has been a consistent force for the Bearcats over the years, and sophomore Angie Sammons, both with 10 kills on the night.
On the part of the Loggers junior Sarah Bliss came away with 9 kills, and 25 total attempts.
The game seemed pretty much decided until the third game where the Bearcats found themselves down by 7 points when a timeout by UPS gave Willamette some renewed energy and junior Lauren Thompson made a kill that started the Bearcats climb back on top.
The final score: 30-22; 30-21; 30-26.
The Bearcats are now 12-5 and 4-3 on the season. The Loggers are 12-7 and 3-4. The next game for the Bearcats is October 11, 2003 vs George Fox at Willamette, 7:00 pm.
