Willamette Spreads Out the Scoring in 3-1 Win Over Pacific
SALEM — Ben DeSanno, Adam Moshofsky and Kyle Gouveia all scored goals as the Willamette University Bearcats (7-6-3, 6-4-1 NWC) defeated Pacific University (6-9, 3-8 NWC), 3-1, Sunday afternoon in a Northwest Conference match.
In recording their first win on the artificial turf at McCulloch Stadium, the Bearcats notched a first half goal from DeSanno, then scored two late goals in the second half as they won their first NWC home game of the year.
DeSanno scored at the 35:53 mark off a feed from Ricardo Sanchez. DeSanno got an assist on the Bearcats second goal, playing give and go with Moshofsky, who scored with a shot into the upper left corner at the 75-minute mark.
Gouveia (pictured above) scored an unassisted goal at 79:55 when he blasted home a shot after picking up a loose ball at the top of the box.
Pacific’s Brett Asato scored in the 83rd minute to avert the shutout.
For the game, the Bearcats out-shot Pacific 20-19.
Dave Eaton recorded nine saves for the Bearcats.
