UPS Swimmers Defeat Bearcats in Dual Meet
Men’s Score: UPS 111, Willamette 77
Women’s Score: UPS 132, Willamette 68
SALEM: Greg Wolfe, Ian Phillips and Tag Veal each had two first place finishes as the University of Puget Sound defeated the Willamette University men’s swimming team 111-77 Saturday afternoon at Sparks Center in Salem.
On the women’s side, Alex Borgen had a pair of victories for the UPS women as they defeated the Bearcat women’s team 132-68.
For the Bearcats, Eric Swinn had a pair of first place finishes in the 20-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke.
Kei Otawa won the 200-yard backstroke and finished second in the 400-yard individual medley.
For UPS, Wolfe won the 1000-yard freestyle and the 400 IM. Veal finished first in the 200-yard butterfly and the 500-yard freestyle. Phillips won both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.
On the women’s side, Nadia Marcovchick (100-yard freestyle) Becca Fisher (50-yard freestyle) and Shanley Roxburgh (1000 yard freestyle) all captured first place finishes for the Bearcats.
For UPS, Borgen won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Also for UPS, Elizabeth Demander won the 400-yard IM; Jessica Martin took first in the 200-yard butterfly; Breanna Trigg won the 200-yard backstroke and Michelle Rennie took the 200- yard backstroke.
