Muth sisters Hit Late Free Throws as Bearcats Beat Cascade 54-49
SALEM: Simmie Muth had ten points, her sister, Jammie, had nine and Lisa Tollenaar gave the Bearcats a big lift off the bench as Willamette University (4-5) beat Cascade (0-10) in a non-conference game Tuesday at the Cone Field House.
Both Muth sisters converted on 1 and 1 situations in the final minute of the game to hold off Cascade. Cascade pulled within three points several times in the waning moments.
Deanna Lund had eight points and 11 rebounds before spraining an ankle late in the game. Tollenaar (pictured left) had six points and five boards — all but a bucket in the second half — in her best game as a Bearcat freshman. Abbie Unick added seven points for Willamette.
Cascade was led by Lisa Freeman (14 points, 10 rebounds), and Jessica Bruce (9 points, 12 rebounds).
Neither team led by more than eight points in the contest. The Bearcats took a 25-23 lead into halftime.
Both teams shot 30 percent in the game.
Cascade out-rebounded the Bearcats 51-47.
