Linfield's Losing Streak Ends against Women Bearcats

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfield snapped a two-game losing streak, beating the Willamette University women’s basketball team 70-51 in Northwest Conference women's basketball action Tuesday night at Ted Wilson Gym.

The Wildcats improved to 2-4 in the NWC, 5-10 overall. The Bearcats remained winless in conference play at 0-6 while slipping to 4-10 overall.

Bayley Coblentz came off the bench to score a career-high 12 points for the Wildcats. Monica Schwing tallied 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. As a team, the 'Cats shot .434, hitting 23 of 53 from the field and outrebounding WU by a 41-34 margin.
Linfield led 14-7 before the Bearcats roared back to tie the contest at 15. A breakaway steal and open layup by Ashley Covey in the final seconds gave Linfield its largest lead of the period at 34-26.

Willamette cut the margin to five in the second half, but the Wildcats cranked up the defensive pressure down the home stretch and pulled away to win.

Bearcats guard Jammie Muth recorded a game-high 14 points, including four three-point baskets. Deanna Lund pulled in a game-best 11 rebounds while adding 10 points, two steals and two assists.

Friday night, Willamette travels to Forest Grove to take on Pacific.
