St. Martins Shuts Down Bearcats, Bases Loaded, in Ninth Inning

McMinnville - Showers were infrequent and so was luck for the Bearcats on Saturday as they went up against St. Martins during the third day of the Jugs Baseball Spring Classic in McMinnville.

In an early game Saturday, Saint Martin's edged Willamette 10-9. The first inning saw St. Martins score 3 runs with Willamette answering in kind with 3 runs as well.

The Bearcats were up 6-4 at the end of the 3rd inning only to see St. Martins fire back with 4 runs in the top of the 4th.

In the Bottom of the 9th Andrew Bartels doubled to center field. Travis Shull singled to center field which allowed Bartels to advance to third. Bartels scored off of Matt Drahn's double to right field, while Shull advanced to third.

Grant Yamaguchi pinch ran for Drahn but St. Martins pitcher, Justin Worrell, decided to put an end to the inning methodically, intentionally walking Drew Herbert after striking out Ken Halpin. The Bearcats dropped to 4-5 on the season with this 10-9 loss to St. Martins.
