Willamette Ends Lutes Win Streak, 87-73
TACOMA, WA - Willamette University led from start to finish in an 87-73 Northwest Conference men's basketball victory over Pacific Lutheran University tonight at Olson Auditorium.
The Bearcats (15-8, 10-4 NWC) scored the first 11 points of the game and eventually led by 22 points, 28-6, with 11:33 left in the first half. Willamette also led by 22, 41-19, at halftime.
The closest PLU (6-17, 3-11 NWC) could get in the second half was the final 14 point margin. The loss ended the Lutes' two-game win streak.
Kurt Oliver and Jonathan Anderson both scored 13 points and Noah Bailey had 10 points to lead the Lutes. Jake Lipscomb grabbed a game-high 6 rebounds.
Willamette had four players in double figures, led by Miles Sandgathe, who scored 20 points. John Olinger finished with 19 points, David Force 16 and Harold Sublett Jr. 15. Sandgathe and Drew Miller both tallied 6 rebounds and Force dished out 5 assists.
The Bearcats host Pacific on Tuesday at home and close the regular season next Friday agains Linfield at home. Both games begin at 8:00 pm.
