Bean Named Assistant Cross Country, Track Coach
Jimmy Bean has been named assistant cross country and track and field coach at Willamette University, effective July 6, 2004.
Bean has spent the last two years as a graduate assistant at
University of Iowa where he earned his master's degree in athletic
administration. He ran
cross country and track at Greenville College where he was all-conference and an NCAA III all-Midwest Region performer.
While at Iowa, Bean managed the recruiting process for the men's cross country program and assisted with coaching, meet management, and general program management.
"The energy, enthusiasm and work ethic that Jimmy brings will provide the cross country and track programs, as well as the entire Athletics department, with a professional dedicated to excellence," said Director of Athletics Mark Majeski.
The Willamette cross country and track and field programs have won three consecutive Northwest Conference championships. Last fall, the women's cross country team finished eighth at the NCAA Division III Championships. In May, the Bearcats men's track and field team finished tied for third at the Championships.
