Bearcats Lose to Western Baptist 4-1
SALEM, Ore. — Western Baptist College got a pair of goals by freshman Josh Crain as the Warriors defeated the Willamette University men's soccer team 4-1 Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (4-1) got on the board just 46 seconds into the match. Micah Pruss slipped a pass in front of the net and Seth Burke scored on a shot off the left post.
Western Baptist held a 2-0 margin at halftime after a Caleb Louvier score. The Warriors' Crain had both Western goals in the second half.
The Bearcats (0-2-2) avoided a shutout in the 61st minute when Zach Reeves' 12-yard shot deflected off a defender past WB keeper Brett Bentley.
Willamette starts its Northwest Conference slate on Wednesday, entertaining Linfield College at 3 p.m. at Sparks Field. The women play Linfield at 5 p.m.
