Men's Golf Team Takes Lead After First Round of Unique Event

SALEM, OR — Rio Kutera fired an even par 72 as the Willamette University men’s golf team opened its season by taking a 12-shot lead in a unique, four round tournament played in September and October at four different courses.

Along with the Bearcats, Pacific, Linfield and Lewis and Clark are competing in the tournament. Round two is Monday, September 27 at Illahe Golf Club in Salem. Round three is on October 7th and round four is scheduled for October 19th.

In the first round, played at Stone Creek Golf Course, Kutera’s 72 was good for the lead. Sophomore Martin Kraal was tied for second. Senior Kris Hunt and junior Dave Eaton were tied for fourth for the defending Northwest Conference champions.
