Sammons Named NWC Player of the Week
SALEM — Outside hitter Angie Sammons (junior, Eugene OR) has been named the Northwest Conference Player of the Week for her performance at the Battlefield Classic Volleyball tournament in Pennsylvania last weekend.
In the Bearcats’ four matches, Sammons recorded 61 digs, 17 aces, 28 digs and 8 blocks as Willamette posted a 3-1 record. The Bearcats are 6-2 on the season headed into tonight’s NWC 7 p.m. home match-up versus Lewis and Clark.
For the season, Sammons ranks second in the NWC in hitting percentage behind teammate Kristen Halleck. Sammons also leads the NWC in services aces with 23.
