Bearcat Golfers Win Whitworth Invitiational; Hunt Shoots Low Score of 149 in Two-Day Tournament
SPOKANE WA — Kris Hunt shot a 72 on the first day, finishing with a 149 overall, as he led the Willamette University men’s golf team to a four-stroke win over the rest of the Northwest Conference in the Whitworth Invitational Sunday and Monday at the Spokane Country Club.
Hunt’s 72 was the low round of the tournament and his 149 two-day total beat Pacific Lutheran’s Brian Misterak by two shots for low medalist honors.
Rio Kuteira shot 153 to tie for 3rd place. Martin Krall was one shot behind at 154, good for 5th place.
Damian Wolfgram tied for 10th with a 158. Baylor Falk shot a 162 and Paul Crisalli finished with a 163 as the Bearcats won the team title 614-618 over PLU.
Pacific and Puget Sound were tied for third at 642. Whitworth finished at 643, with Linfield (649) and Whitman (661) rounding out the field.
The Bearcats finish up the four-round, South Fourway Invitational next week. Willamette has won each of the first three rounds of the tournament.
