SALEM, OR — Getting an earlier start than usual, Willamette University’s Men’s Basketball program has begun practice in preparation for yet another exciting year of Bearcat Hoop.

Lead by team captains Harold Sublett, Jr. ( SR, PG, Phoenix, AZ) and John Olinger (JR, SG, Salem, OR), the Bearcats are looking to contend yet again in the highly competitive Northwest Conference.

Coming off three straight 2nd place finishes, Head Coach Gordie James (pictured left) and his squad have had more than a week now of intense, competitive practices to start the season.

Returning starters Sublett, Jr., Olinger, and Brennan Garrelts (JR, P, Roseburg, OR) will look to carry the early season burden, allowing talented (albeit inexperienced) players such as Todd Lewis (SR, P, Coos Bay, OR), Ian Mansfield (FR, W, Hillsboro, OR), C J Stuvland (JR, G, Portland, OR), Jason Luchterhand (JR, P, Grants Pass, OR) Drew Miller (JR, W, Keizer, OR) and Henry Greeley (JR., W, Seattle, WA) time to settle into their roles.

Willamette will scrimmage Chemeketa Community College on November 5th at Cone Fieldhouse, and opens its actual season in Boise, Idaho against Albertson College on November 19th.
