Bearcat Women Beat Pacific 2-0
SALEM, OR — Nicole Dahl scored her fifth goal in three games, then added an assist on the Bearcats second goal, as the Willamette University women’s soccer team defeated Pacific, 2-0, at Sparks Field Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats bettered their season record to 6-3-2 overall, 4-2-1 in the NWC. Pacific fell to 3-5-1 overall, 2-4-1 in conference.
Dahl’s game winning goal came in the fifth minute when Naomi Baez found her in front of the goal with a perfect cross. Dahl’s shot deflected off goalkeeper Shannon Tillman and spun into the net.
Susan Butler scored Willamette’s second goal in the 68th minute. Brenna Hindman started the play with a break-away from midfield. She fed Dahl in the corner who crossed the ball to Butler in front. Butler’s first shot was deflected, but she put the second shot into the left corner for the Bearcat’s insurance goal.
Pacific, though they managed only eight shots, had several chances to score. But Bearcat goalie Kari Woody recorded six saves in wet and slippery conditions. Willamette had 12 shots in the game.
The Bearcats travel to Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday for another Northwest Conference game.
