Bearcats Fall To Whitman 3-1
The Whitman Missionaries, behind two second half goals, beat the Willamette University women’s soccer team 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Whitman field.
Rachel Clevenger’s goal late in the second half allowed the Bearcats to escape a shutout just a day after knocking off second place Whitworth.
Katie Schmitz, Lauren DeYoung and Jennifer Toy each tallied goals for Whitman. Schmitz’s goal came jst eight minutes into the match. DeYoung scored the game-winner in the 65th minute and Toy tacked on an insurance goal four minutes later.
Whitman out-shot the Bearcats 20-13. Kristin Muramoto had six saves for the Bearcats. Annie Owen also had six for Whitman.
The loss drops the Bearcats to 8-6-2 overall, 6-5-1 NWC. Whitman is now 10-7-1 overall, 6-6-1 NWC.
