Bearcats Hold Onto First in NWC With Three-Game Win Over Linfield
Salem, OR- The Willamette University volleyball team maintained its hold on first place in the Northwest Conference, sweeping aside the Linfield Wildcats in a three game match 30-20, 30-20, 30-27.
The Bearcats are now 11-4 on the season, 5-1 in the NWC. Linfield falls to 6-6 overall, 4-2 in the NWC.
Willamette was led by middle blocker Lauren Thompson (14 kills) and outside hitter Angie Sammons (13 kills). Jessica Drumm threw up 31 assists, while Kristen Halleck defended the court with 8 kills and 17 digs.
Lindsay Harksen and Michelle Wyatt of the Wildcats had 10 kills apiece. Stephanie Dawkins led Linfield with 13 digs. Harksen and Tori Beck totaled in 25 assists.
The Bearcats will defend the field house once again this Friday, October 8, with a match against the Loggers from Puget Sound.
