Bearcats Run Strong as Host Team at Bowles Invitational
SALEM, OR — Danya Rumore finished third in the women’s 5K College division race and Aaron Hollingshead finished fourth in the men’s race as the Willamette University cross country teams had strong showings in the Charles Bowles Invitiational Saturday at Bush Park.
The Bearcat men finished third in the college division behind Chico State and Edinboro. The Bearcat women finished fourth overall behind Chico State, Edinboro and UC-San Diego.
Rumore (17:36.82) and Kari Holbert (9th, 17:57.33) both finished in the top ten in the women’s race, followed by Sarah Zerzan (22nd, !8:23.22), Katie Pierce (52nd, 18:54.68), Molly Phimister (56th, 18:59.39 and Natalie Muren (63rd (19:05.92). There were 271 runners in the 5K race.
On the men’s side, following Hollingshead’s (24:24.30) fourth in the 8K race, were Bearcat runners Nathan O’Brien (22nd, 25:13.01), Nick Symonds (33rd, 25:26.39), Ian Batch (39th, 25:32.76), Brendan Brown (44th, 25:39.78) and Nathan Love (46th, 25:42.37).
