Bearcats win 1-0 over PLU
TACOMA, Wash. — Freshman Michael Rodriquez scored midway through the first half and the Bearcats made it stand up as the Willamette University men’s soccer team posted a 1-0 win over Pacific Lutheran University in a Northwest Conference men's soccer game Sunday.
Willamette now stands at 2-7-2 overall, 2-5 in conference games. The Lutes slipped to 4-8-1 overall, 3-3-1 in the conference.
Rodriquez scored his second goal of the season from about 20 yards out on the right side after taking a pass from midfielder Daniel Park. The goal was at the 22:34 mark of the opening half.
The Lutes had 15 shots during the game to 10 for Willamette, and enjoyed a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Bearcat goalkeeper Reed Renfrow recorded the shutout.
